Update from the Kimbles

Now most of you might be wondering, what have I been up to over the last while. Well, I want to say that we, as a family feel incredibly blessed. I have managed to secure freelance work that is covering monthly expenses. Essentially, the revenue of this freelancing business has grown from zero to covering full living costs. Over the course of four months. This has meant a lot of late nights working on projects. So you might rightly ask, How is everybody? Well, Taryn's business in the travel industry still is on ice. 

But thanks be to God, she received some revenue by taking people on flower tours, these flower tours are basically taking people up the west coast of South Africa, to see the desert flowering. I have inserted some pictures for you to take a look at: 

Taryns health has been a bit of an issue recently. She has to have an operation to remove some benign tumors in her uterus. The process of addressing this health issue, is a lengthy one, because we are using the Public Health Service. The kids are growing up, we have one teenager already in our house, which brings with it unique challenges. And every day, I'm forced to my knees, as we navigate this new phase in our children's lives. Ethan had a birthday recently, and I was an extremely responsible parent, buying him a pellet gun. Something that I could never have as a kid!

And we have discovered and hidden talent. He is an extremely accurate Shot. And much to my dismay he beats me every time when we tried to shoot cans in the yard.

The amazing thing about this freelancing work that I've developed, is that I'm still able to do ministry two days a week. Now you may ask what kind of ministry, Am I doing? I'm involved with the Institute for Transformational Leadership www.itl.org.za.  And what I'm doing with them is helping them to develop their alumni remotely. These alumni are Christian leaders, based in difficult places from El Salvador to Pakistan. And I'm helping them with two major projects at this stage. The first one is the Crowdfunding project. This is actually our second year of running the project, and you will see by the website. 

Using a combination of instructional videos, group zoom meetings and individual coaching we have helped them develop crowdfunding campaigns for projects as diverse as helping retired pastors in El Salvador, to dealing with the crystal meth crisis, and providing rehab facilities in Zimbabwe. These guys are all Christian leaders who are looking to transform lives. They are a diverse bunch of people from El Salvador to Tanzania, all working to grow the kingdom of God and bring his light to dark places. It's an amazing project, and I'm so blessed to be a part of it. Please take a look at the website  ITL crowdfunding. 

Secondly, we've started this new project called seeding enterprise, which is focused on helping people who were part of the Institute of transformational leadership to develop their social enterprises. And we're doing this by coaching them. So, every two weeks, I meet with a group of four different Christian leaders, and help them to develop goals that will grow their specific social enterprise. These enterprises range from a software and website development company in Togo, to a Daycare in Tanzania. 

We have also people running a restaurant in Juba, South Sudan, which provides a space for the youth together, and hear the wonderful news of Jesus Christ. I've attached the profiles of some of the people we working with. So, if you are supporting us we really are grateful for the support. And we pray that that would continue. Because even in the midst of our trials and tribulations over the last year and a bit. God has used us significantly to help grow his kingdom here on earth, and we are.

We have seen the hand of God everywhere, in hindsight. And we just praise and thank God for everything. If you want to pray for us, please do. Thank God for all that he has done for us. He has decided to take care of us because we are the people of  the light, kingdom people. He has taken it upon himself to care for us and provide us the income that we need, while at the same time using us extensively in the growth of his kingdom through the ministry at Institute of transformational leadership.

Rest - Kimble Update

 Dear friends and supporters

I just reread it Genesis chapter 12. This is a high point in God's redemptive story. First of all, it started verse 1 with now the Lord said. I never thought how strange this is after the Babel story, suddenly God speaks to a 75-year-old nobody. He promises them protection, blessing, a blessing to all the families of the world, a great people and land. Indeed, there are echoes of Adam and the creation of man.

Abram does react faith and goes, plus he worships God. But if you read on in the chapter after this towering start, what's the next thing that happens? Hardship comes to Abram say he runs to Egypt despite God's promises. And worse than that, he gets to Egypt in verse 13. After thinking that they may kill him, he says this so you're my sister that it may go well with me because of you and that my life may be spared for your sake. Abram is manufacturing his own blessing for himself shortly after God promises to use him in the recreation/redemption of the whole world.

Who said that the biblical authors didn't have a sense of humour. We are meant to go. That's hilarious. God promises you the world, and instead of trusting him, you try to make things go well for yourself by using your wife. Silly Abram! But this contrast not only tells us something about Abram's heart, it tells us something about our hearts. When we face trials, most of the time, we try to manufacture and exit to the test ourselves, just like silly Abraham. This is despite having a promise all yes in Jesus.

Having been through a period of fiery testing, I feel like God is constantly calling out to me to rest in the fact that Jesus has brought every spiritual blessing to me. The truth of the matter is that seldom do I like Abram consider what God has promised me, the God who is faithful all the time when facing trial or a challenge. Instead, I'm looking for the verse 13 option of chapter 12, say you're my sister that it may go well with me because of you, and my life may be spared for your sake. I'm looking to manufacture a way out of the situation instead of trusting God trusting that he will bring me out of this trial.

So the big question God is asking me today is will I trust Him. Will I trust him even if the immediate future is uncertain?

Sorry it hasn't been a recent update, but I have been overwhelmed by God's goodness; he has provided a large project with a new client. I am learning so much and implementing an accounting system for this client. So I am very grateful to the Lord. Work with this client has allowed me to meet our financial commitments, and I will do so God willing for the next month or two. Taryn has also found work as a hockey coach at the school. Thank you for all your prayers.

Please thank God for all we have in Jesus and thank Him for all that he has done to help us earn a living. Ask that he may help us rest in Him. 

The voice of the voiceless Ps 28

 Psalm 28

1 To you, Lord, I call;

    you are my Rock,

    do not turn a deaf ear to me.

For if you remain silent,

    I will be like those who go down to the pit.

2 Hear my cry for mercy

    as I call to you for help,

as I lift up my hands

    toward your Most Holy Place.

It's wonderful to see how the Bible gives voice to the voiceless. Honestly at the moment I haven't been able to put into words an update for you guys. But the 1st 2 verses of this Psalm some up my state of mind. The fact that no matter where you are, no matter what is happening God is your rock. And in fact if that isn't the case we all might as well go down to the pit. I take wonderful comfort from this verse in my present situation. That through my abiding in Christ Jesus I have access to the rock, I know this rock will not remain silent. Seeing the mercy at the cross and through the resurrection I am now in the most holy place I could ever be, in Christ. It doesn't mean that my circumstances are great but it means I have a licence to cry out, cry out for mercy and call to my father for help. So I thought I would just include my prayer for today as an update.

Dear God, only you

 

Psalm 28 verses 1 to my father, I need help. I cannot move the needle to get sufficient work to provide for my family. Lord God, please give me what I need , please be my refuge be my strength. I don't feel like I can carry on and I am so mentally exhausted and emotionally drained. So lacking in confidence. But you, you can be my confidence. You give me hope in the Gospel. You give me a deep understanding of what it means to love you, to know you. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your Father thank you that in him I have a refuge so that I can be reminded that I can trust in Him. Lord God, you know what we need, you know that we need everything. We need everything Lord, we are so needy. Please increase my dependence on you helped me to from this day From this moment to just keep remembering. Keep me understanding why It is that you are to me a refuge. And that because of Jesus , I can come without fear into your presence, that he is the perfect advocate. That I can ask you, as a child askes his father, please, Lord, help give us what we need. Help us to understand who you are and what you're capable of...

Why an the book of Job

Why? and the Book of Job

It makes many of us wonder why. Especially at this time. 

It's not clear why. 

Why did a little bug cause such havoc in a world progressing beyond our wildest dreams, why did so many lose their lives. 

Why there are so many jobless. Why has this impacted some families but not others? Some of them were forced to live under terrible circumstances. 

All by this little virus unseen moving and establishing it's self. 

How to find answers here.

How do we cope with all that has happened to us?

All this seems rather useless and completely out of control. 

Why this is a common question in the book of Job which I am reading. 

Job is constantly asking why the Lord allowed all the things that happened to him to happen. He lost his livelihood, his family and his health. 

Things I have learnt so far in Job. 

We are meant to ask why God can handle our deepest darkest questions. 

The world is not fair, therefore we are meant to cry with those who have lost jobs, loved ones. And not offer easy pletatues 

We are also to seek God, not because he will give us a neat answer, but because he is the beginning and end of all wisdom.

I need to, all of us need to express to God our deep sadness in this worlds failing to be as it should. 

Through our tears we will find God's solution, Jesus. He was stripped, beaten and faced all of his father's anger. Why, well to make the promise of the Kingdom of God real now. 

He was rejected felt hunger and was made to suffer for the father's kingdom.

Suffering in Hope Romans 5v1-5

Buddhists believe that suffering is not real. Paul in Romans 5:1-5 does not deny that suffering exists, he tells us to rejoice in it. Twice in the passage, he says rejoice.

When I first read this passage, I thought to myself, Paul, how can you rejoice when you have not had steady work for 6 months. How can you rejoice when you know that as you cold call people, they will turn you away as you try to build a new business? I think Paul would tell me this: first, remember who you are. Not who you think you are becoming (Sometimes I think I am turning into my father). No, remember who you are today, right now.I am a person who has access to God, I am a person who is drowning in God’s grace. We who are Christ followers are people who are grounded in God’s grace. I am shown grace moment by moment, as I face rejection in job application after job application. I am still standing in God's Grace shower, even at my lowest point, which I will face today, when I receive another ten rejection letters and it feels like if I get one more I will explode. C5.v1-2 We all set up our lives to avoid as much pain as possible. We use things like medical aid plans, retirement plans and on a more basic level pain pills.All good things, but Christians know that we will suffer, but it is how you view that suffering that is important, for it is not without pain, but the key is that we are strengthened as we suffer by a loving father. Christians can rejoice in suffering because they know suffering produces endurance, which produces character, which produces hope. The three step faith strengthening process. Growing in faith is a three step process. Suffering is like an incubator for faith. But that made me think, when I think of endurance I think of people who do things with sheer force of will. Like when I ran a 90 km road race, it was mind over matter. The sheer determination to finish prevented any lapses in my character. But that's not what Paul is saying in chapter 5. Paul is encouraging the Romans and us to endure and to build character during suffering. The emphasis is on hope. Our rejoicing in suffering is a product of hope, a hope that never puts us to shame. It is a hope based on God filling us up with his love knowing that we can trust him. All suffering must be viewed from the perspective of my peace with God and my current standing with God. Confident in the knowledge that his love is pouring into me as I endure. Have I ever really grasped how much love that took? Help me to rejoice in all you've done for me and all you are doing for me my father.

December 2020 update

Dear friends.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. - 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2Corinthians4:7-9&version=NIV

To me this passage puts my present situation into perspective. We are not experiencing what a pastor friend says is Disney land Christianity. What has really surprised me is how much we think we are entitled. Entitled to "fair" treatment by God, we are vocal about the evil of prosperity gospel, yet in some way part of us is expecting comfort as our primary experience as a Christian. Secretly we all want the offer of prosperity gospel- comfort is our desire.

But as you clearly in the passage above and most of the experience of the disciples this was not their experience. So why do we expect or feels entitled to a "blessed" life? Repentance is and will continually be required by me.

So I have applied for  over three thousand jobs. I have more rejection letters in my inbox than spam. I have had two interviews and short listed for two jobs.

Also, I have had some success at in finding accounting and bookkeeping freelance work.I have secured a few more clients. I continue to network in this area.

Also a number of applications for ministry jobs overseas. This is only because I have this option and need to work. I am not angry or disappointed by SA. One application in Ireland has shortlisted me so we will see...

We have also applied for my specialist license that will allow me to drive for uber  next year.

Taryn is earning some cash driving school kids in Paarl. She also has picked up some good work in tourism only to have clients cancel after the presidents address last week...

Learn Change; Selecting ideas

The Kimble’s news To the Winelands Issue Date BEEN BUILD UP AND ROOTED IN JESUS Trinity church: There are some really exciting things that are happening at Trinity church. There are two new groups starting in the very near future which we hope will grow into new congregations. Because Trinity church is situated in a rural area we have decided to try and plant two new congregations in two different areas, this will mean that so families in the church will not have to travel so far to get to a Bible believing and teaching church. In addition to that we will no doubt fine others to join these families. The two new congregations will start out as small groups over the next few months and we are praying that God would grow those small groups to the point where we can plant a church in the area. Clint will be heading up the new work that has been started. Please pray for him as he undertakes this difficult work. In the Main Church we are planning to have outreach services at Christmas to try and bring more people into the kingdom of God. This we will do by running a carol service and an invite you friends, to meet the Christ of Christmas service on Christmas Day. We hope to follow this up with a Christianity explained course or an Alpha course in the New Year. Please pray that people will be bold in the holy spirit to invite their friends Clint is also practising the Ministry of presents in Franceshoek and the two other areas to try and get to know people that are not Christians in those areas. Please pray for all these events, pray that God by his spirit may be opening blind eyes to the Lord Jesus Christ. An accident Unfortunately on Monday, 17 October 2016 Clint had an accident while dropping the kids off at school. We request that you consider helping us to raise the excess on the car which is 4000 Rand. Unfortunately this was an unplanned expense and we have no way of covering it except by raising support from kind donors like yourself. If you aren't able to give please pray that God would open the hearts of other donors to give generously towards the car repairs excess. The Family The family is settling in well to their new environment, for Taryn it is a sort of homecoming because she grew up in this area the Cape wine lands. Unfortunately with all the competition that there is in Stellenbosch Taryn is struggling to find a sustainable amount of work as a tour guide. Please pray for us and in particular, for Taryn as she works hard to try and market herself and the business in a highly competitive industry. Pray for God's wisdom as she does this and tries to maintain the balance of being a wife and a mother. The kids are settling in well at the schools that we have moved them into, Daniela had her sports day on Friday and ran in two races placing fourth and second. The most amazing thing was that in every race she had a beaming smile on her face enjoying every second, I pray she never loses that joy in the future. Ethan will be playing his first cricket match next Saturday. Please pray for them that they will be comforted at this time of great change and that they would put all their trust in the unchanging Father the God of all the universe. Pray that they would also come to understand their brother Jesus and live every moment for him in schools that are very secular.

First Prayer Meeting

Well Landsdown Gospel Community had its first prayer meeting for the year there were 4 people there and we discussed many exciting things.

Networking with other church planters via Skype

The need for a venue for the planed once a month kids club. What we are planning, starting next quarter is a once a month kids club for the community at a house. We want to encourage the parents to stay and get to know them and encourage those who are interested to come to the core group we are starting.

We will also start a once every 2 weeks open house on the Kimbles house once we move.

So as you can see to really kick off the core group we need a house in the area.

In three months time we will have a weekly core group meeting. 

Clint is meeting people to cast vision with them and encourage them to join our core. This involves lots of cups of coffee. 

Also for UK supporters The Gospel Partnership Trust is able to receive on our behalf and provide the necessary income tax deductions. I will forward those who will be supporting the bank details and the contact person.

We think God is moving and we are exited to see what he might do with our small group.

A Redeemed Barbarian’s Cookbook.

I am reading a book called Saturated. The author, like me, is a bit of a barbarian, what I mean is that he has a tendency like me to be an initiator and to drive things forward, sometimes without a regard for cooler heads, prayer and the wisdom of experience.

I am having too often painfully at times, learn that Christianity is fundamentally about a change of identity. It’s all about becoming who you are in Christ. So as my mind wrestles with being a Christian and doing Christian things, being the barbarian I am, I often do Christian things without regard for who I am in Christ. This is probably the biggest lesson I have learnt this year. God wants me to be his child, he wants to hold me and he wants to work through me.

In thinking about establishing a mission community in a 70% Muslim area my mind jumps to the obvious things, establish a core group, move into the area and find people to share the Gospel and demonstrate the gospel to.

But thanks to the kind intervention of godly Christians I have come to realise that while all those things are important and need to be done. First and foremost, I need to understand what it means to be a follower of Jesus and how I have fundamentally been changed because Jesus, lived died and rose again.

I am a Christian first and knowing that changes all I do. Now you may be asking yourself, but Clint you have Degree in Theology and have worked for 9 years in church leadership surely you understand your identity in Christ? You can read some of the biblical language words, you have done systematic theology ect. You have run all the programs in a church. You have started new programs.

But as I think as Saturated has challenged me to think listen this Quote ‘Jesus Saturation-Jesus is filling every place with his presence through normal, everyday people in everyday stuff of life. THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOD’S VISION FOR HIS PEOPLE. See in some senses the reformation did not go far enough, it still maintains a false distinction between the clergy and the laity.

So do I just let go and let God. I really detest this statement because it means I can just sit on my hands a wait for a still small voice like the women who would not leave the house if God did not tell her which sock to put on. But I never realised as I went to minister’s meetings and we all asked each other how the ministry was going instead of praising God for what he was doing with my friends instead I was in my mind proud of all I was doing for God and how blessed I was compared to others! My gospel at that point was God is happy with me because of all I am doing for him. It’s at this meeting that a friend said to me he was so glad I was putting my stamp on my ministry?!

I need to be more like one person i am hoping God will include in my core group she says she can't imagine God using her because she does not know the Bible well and is a struggling Christian. What she does not realise is that God will use us weak as we are for his purposes in the everyday stuff of life. And we are all weak made bold by his grace alone.

Another Older couple says something like this, We don’t have the energy for this Missional community. I really hope God gives people like that to me to Shepard because its people who know that they are weak that I want around me and the family.

Please pray for:

My family as we are the core of this missional community at the moment.

Pray for a focus of Jesus and ordinary people for me Clint.

Pray that my traveling to the UK will develop partnership with Jesus at the centre.(26 November to 3 December).

Pray that God would show me My weakness as a Father, Husband and undershepard.

Pray that I would be bold for God in all I do.

Pay that I would focus of being and let that lead me to do.

Leaving Trinity

All I can say about leaving Trinity is that we were extremely encouraged by the send-off we received from the church. The outpouring of genuine Christian love was evident to all. It was heartbreaking to hear how we would be missed in the church. My suggestion is that if you have a pastor don’t wait till he leaves to tell him how much Jesus is done through him instead go up to him at your next meeting and explained to him exactly how Jesus is working through him.

It is also heartening to see that Jesus will carry on his work at Trinity using people during our time there is a family. It was always our desire to raise up local leaders to lead the church in that area. It is wonderful to follow these servants of Christ on social media to see what God is doing through them.

We are so grateful as a family to God for all that he taught us during this five-year period.

Eastmountain.

It was with great enthusiasm that we joined the team at East mountain. The main focus of this group of missionaries based in Stellenbosch is to strengthen the church through providing adequate training for its leaders. This was something we as a family could easily get behind.

We also had the privilege of working in partnership with them at Trinity Church for two years. I (Clint) set about trying to increase their partnership base in Cape Town. This involved meeting on a weekly basis with different church leaders and together with the church leaders discovering whether or not East mountain and the church could work together. It was an amazing time getting to hear the stories of all these church leaders.

One story in particular stands out: it’s about a pastor in guagelethu. All his training and church experience was based in the charismatic church movement. However, he came in contact with evangelical Christians who provided him with training. He decided that the word of God was the most fundamental thing in any gospel community. As a result, he decided to preach and teach it at every opportunity training himself to expound God’s word.

Not surprisingly, many of his former congregants left, and he is one of two Bible teaching pastors in the whole of that area. As you can see the need for training is enormous in our country. This is why the strengthening that East mountain is attempting to do of church leaders in our country is deserving of all the support that we are able to give it.

Lansdown gospel community (being disciples, making disciples)

During my work with East mountain and the opportunity presented itself through various people to begin discussing the possibility of planting a gospel community in Lansdown. Lansdowne is an area that in Cape Town which has, to my knowledge, no gospel preaching, gospel believing community. It is historically a ‘coloured’ area, with a high concentration of Muslims.

It is also geographically located between the traditional white suburbs and colored township’s. It presents the possibility of reaching both groups of people and having them praise God together.

At the moment a group of us has met twice to pray and speak about this idea. The Kimble’s next year plan to move into the area. Once in the area, we would like God to form a group of Christians, which will form the core group of this community. This community has the potential to be supported by some major role players in the community.

We have absolutely no idea what God might do except that we are stepping out in faith as a family. East mountain is 100% behind us and want to partner with us in this endeavor. They very kindly released me/send me into this area to look into all the possibilities. I am also receiving support from the North American mission society which is helping plant over 260 churches and partners with a number of church planting is all over the world.

The family

Taryn is working hard as a tour guide in Cape Town taking people to the most beautiful places in the city, eating at the best restaurants with her guests. She is managing to work around three days a week to help with the financial situation.

The two kids are really enjoying the school and am constantly amazed at what they can read. Daniela, who is in grade 1 is already reading quite complicated books. She is trying to also increase my cultural knowledge by telling me about the composers she is studying at school. Last week we had a long conversation about Hayden, I must confess I didn’t even know who he was!

Ethan is also reading very well and he is only in grade R. He is constantly telling me what they are reading in the Bible at school. It is also amazing to see how he loves engaging with different ideas. At the moment Lego and Star Wars are hot topics of conversation.

Prayer points

Please pray for my fundraising trip on 27 December to the UK. We need to raise money in order to rent a house in Lansdown. This is very costly!

Please pray for the role players involved in the Lansdown gospel community. Pray that we would seek Christ’s glory above all.

Pray that I would come across Christians who are interested in reaching out to this community.

Thank God for the part-time work both Taryn and I have managed to source.

Thank God for his work in our lives.

Pray for continued generous support.

Pray that God would take the efforts of Lansdown gospel community and do much more than we can ever imagine.

Romans 1:1-7

When Paul here proclaims Jesus Christ to be our Lord he is proclaiming the risen Lord Jesus. This is at the heart of God's Gospel verse 1. It is only through him that Paul is able to proclaim that he received grace and his apostleship. And it is only through him that all the nations can be caught in faith. The book of Romans is all about Jesus and the difference the risen Lord Jesus makes to the Christian.

I think sometimes we get so caught up in words such as the gospel that we forget that the gospel is about a living risen person that was sent by God after being declared the son of David and the son of God he is declared as our Lord.

Faith in this person is much more than simply turning up to church on Sundays or trying to lead a good moral life. It's about being in a living and active relationship with the Lord Jesus in which he speaks to you and you speak to him. This is surely amazing!

I pray that I would come to understand more deeply what it means for you to be the risen Lord Jesus Christ. For now it means that you are looking after me that all my worries and anxieties and fears pale into insignificance as I see you for who you really are our Lord. This is not some sort of far of distant Lordship it is this HEAR and now imminent Lordship. Lord help me to desire what you desire. Give me the strength to follow after you LORD.

they received power to be Jesus as witnesses to the ends of the earth

Acts chapter 1 verse 1 to 11 the power of God comes upon them.

 I've just been reflecting on the section of acts again and it strikes me as I attempt to live a life of faith that my trust in the Lord Jesus Christ is completely vindicated. The Apostles in verse 7 receive the holy spirit God himself comes upon them.

This power is given to them not so that they can have a comfortable salary at the end of the month. Nor is it for their own personal growth or self actualising.  is is so that they may be witnesses both locally, provincially, nationally and internationally. They are not told come to Jesus and you will have an easy life. Than I told I'm giving you this power for you to use personally for your own benefit. No in this giving of power Jesus is constituting his earthly witness to himself. Jesus is saying you will be my witnesses because I have placed the power of God in you to witness to the world. It's not about where you witness but how you witness. The problem for us in our churches is that our lifestyles do not reflect the Gospel imperative that is to go and bear witness to the world.

My prayer is not to be God provide the money for my family however helpful that could be instead it should be make me a good witness for you Jesus locally. I think sometimes we limit ourselves to say that gospel churches must always be small. Sometimes saying this is to deny the power of the Lord Jesus Christ that he has come upon us and is empowering us to reach the world. Let's stop complaining or patting ourselves on the back for being a small gospel centred church instead let's go out there and witness for Jesus.

The scary world of Faith

There will always be challenges when you decide to live by faith. We the thought we had the funding for next year all sorted. However as living by faith teaches you can only rely on one person for the funds. God provides the funds for his workers. Lord if we are to work for you at Trinity you know all our needs please provide for them. Lord also help me not to be as stressed as I now am I don't want to be anxious. But honestly I am. God please help me to know you are God. Because at the moment I want to solve this problem my self. You know that if I was to work here in Capetown I need a network which I don't have. Most of all comfort me with the thought that you know!

The Kimble's move to Trinity Church Mitchells plain.

Intro

We really are pleased to announce that once we have finished George Whitfield college we will be moving on to full-time ministry at Trinity church Mitchells plain.

The elders at the church have offered us a two-year contract. Now you may be asking where is Mitchell's plain. Mitchells plain is in Cape Town. It is part of an area when the majority of Capetonians live. Our church is situated in a beacon Valley on Mitchell's plain. It is a traditionally coloured township.

Why

Why are the Kimble's choosing to minister in Mitchell's plain on the Cape Flats? 1st of all we believe as we have been taught by the apostles that the gospel is for all people and therefore in order to fulfil the great commission we need to be concerned with areas where the majority of Southern Africa's population lives. Many people have been commending us and saying how gifted we are for cross-cultural ministry. We believe that it is not our gifting that compels us to minister cross culturally but the Gospel itself. It's hard to imagine receiving the quality of training we have received and simply administering to people who are the same as us culturally.

The work that God is doing among the people in this church has amazed us. We have seen God completely alter people's lives turning them from drugs and gangsterism to being followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is moving in a very special way and Trinity Church Mitchell's plain. As we have taught the Bible in various situations we have seen God's word powerfully challenge people.

Young children have given their lives over to the Lord Jesus Christ and whole families have come to know him. The church has grown both in depth and in numbers over the past 2 1/2 years that we have been involved. This is why we would love to continue our involvement just to see what God will do in the next few years!

A drive around the neighbourhood would give the false impression that the majority of people in this community are Christians. There is a church on every street corner. However the fast majority of churches in Mitchell's plain subscribe to the prosperity gospel. This is a damaging false teaching that is leading thousands in these neighbourhoods to a false sense of security. We believe that the only weapon we have in this spiritual battle is the true and living Gospel that was once for all delivered to the saints. In our future work we plan to expand the ministries of the church so that the maximum amount of people can hear the good news.

What

Our ministry over the next 2 years will involve firstly strengthening the midweek Bible studies so that we can disciple those who have been converted. This will increase the depth of knowledge of what the Lord Jesus has done. We hope on Wednesday nights to have people come and enjoy a meal with us at the church and after that divide into smaller groups and engage with Holy Scripture.

The Sunday morning services will hopefully benefit from the 3 years that I have spent at George Whitfield college sharpening my Bible handling skills. I hope to do most of the preaching next year. We are also very excited to possibly plants and evening service because many of the people that would like to come to our church are unable to because of work commitments. This we believe will also attract a different demographic of people.

The pastoral care for the existing church members and their extended families will be my responsibility in 2014. This ministry will also need to grow with the involvement of the Elders in providing vital pastoral care. The elders and I are discussing dividing up the congregation into smaller groups and each older will take responsibility for one of those smaller groups this will involve contacting them either by SMS, email or telephone so that we can demonstrate our love for one another.

Trinity Church also is in the process of building a primary school. This will be one of the areas of our responsibility and we will ensure that the children at the school's year the true gospel. The school at the moment has 40 children fully sponsored attending a school readiness program. From next year the 1st grade of primary school will be offered by this school. We are very excited to be a part of the development of the school because it allows the children exposure to the gospel and a very young age and therefore can impact the community in measurably in the future.

We are also looking to expand the apprenticeship training programme that exists at Trinity Church. We believe that it is critical that local leaders are raised up to lead the church in the future. Already we have a number of individuals who are clearly gifted for church leadership into the future and we plan to nurture and grow them to the point where we will send them for theological training at George Whitfield college.

There is also the beginnings of a church planting network where Trinity together with a number of other churches is looking to plant churches on Mitchell's plain and beyond using the model of ministry developed at Trinity. Already we have planted a church in Springbok a small rural town up the West Coast of South Africa. We as a family hope to plant a number of churches in the very near future. We long to see a gospel preaching Bible believing church on every corner in our neighbourhood. We believe in dreaming big because we serve a big God. Is

When

While we as a family have been involved in this church for 2 1/2 years now we are looking forward to completing our studies this year and focusing in 2014 on Trinity Church.

Dreams.

One of our biggest dreams is that we want to have no job. What we mean by this is that through our partnership with Trinity we will identify and encourage local leadership where ever possible. This we wish to do to the point where we are no longer required at the church and we can move on to a potential church plant.

As we have already described above we want to be part of a church planting network and plant as many gospel preaching Bible believing churches as God will allow us to. This is from the conviction that only through the transformation that the Gospel can bring will people be lifted out of the cycle of family violence, drug addiction and gangsterism.

1 Samuel 13

Just read this part of the bible.  Its shows what sort of king Saul is he is a king of the people not in a good way.  He desires that his subjects adore him.  He proclaimes a minor victory to all.  He easily loses heart when he is confronted by a powerful enemy.  He also try to use God as a lucky charm making sacrifices to him seeking his favour.  However Godd desires obedience to his word.  God takes away the kingdom from Saul for an act of disobedience. He is not living a life of faith but one of sight.

This makes us and the readers long for a King that listens to God a man after Gods own heart.  This person arrives at Christmas.  He is also able to deal with all our enemies sin death and Satan. 

In short trust the King Jesus no matter what you present experience.

Job 1 6-22

Job is blameless v1 and v8 yet God allows no wait God give all that he has into satans hand v 11 and 12.  God does not do it he allows Satan to do it we should be shoked by this that God gives Satan ability to cause choas in areas of our lives.  But the comforting thing is that he never allows satan free rain.  He is on a leash set loss by God determins his action that is comforting as much as the fact that God gives all that we have to Satan to take away.  So can Satan do more than tempt it appears so.

Here is the amazing thing about Job.  The worst news in four bursts.  How his heart must have broken as the last bit of news came in that his children had died.  Yet in the mits of all that hs happened he is certain of the facts.  God gives and takes away and he did not get anything that was not from God.  He is able to say blessed be the name of the lord he did not curse God instead he blessed him.
